Each day our important work continues to make a difference. Your donations will help us sustain that impact and expand programming into new schools and communities.
We are grateful to our community of donors who over the past fifteen years have helped us achieve
a new level of success. We are now able to aid more children and youth than was ever possible before!
Through our new LevelUpSEL program, we’ve had over 6,000 interactions with students at New York City public schools this semester. Better yet, we also recruit, train and employ college and graduate student interns who are becoming future SEL practitioners in their fields of mental health and education.
This all adds up for the youngsters in our SEL programs to show greater engagement in learning, stronger relationships with peers and teachers, and better attendance in the schools. These children, accrue academic, behavioral, and lifelong benefits through SEL. Importantly, this experience has been transformational for the college interns in terms of valuable experience
aligned with their careers.
Principal Danica Ward shared that, “The young adult interns of LevelUpSEL are role models to our TMALS students by creating a sense of belonging. We’ve seen strengthened listening and interpersonal skills, which carries over from the classroom to the community.”
Harvard Business School Community Partners’ insight and recommendations helped us transition the organization to serve a greater amount and range of students needing SEL aid in NYC public schools.
Our partners at the Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence, say we have “designed a program grounded in evidence-based research.” Furthermore, The Meeting House’s LevelUpSEL program is the first of its kind.
Our financial model has shifted and we have forgone tuition that supported our work. We now get a modest amount of money from the Department of Education, along with grants from private and corporate foundations, but we still have a significant financial raise.
We hope that we can count on you to help us continue to succeed.
With Gratitude,
The Meeting House Team
